| The word "history" comes from the ancient Greek word historia which literally means story. The act of storytelling, has been a feature of human culture for tens of thousands of years. |
| The distinction between labelling something "fiction" or "fact" (history) is only a relatively recent phenomena. Yet the determination of much of what is deemed "true history" and what is denigrated as "myth" or simply erased from history remains guided by the same forces as it has for millenia--to the victors goes history. And much of history has been re-written and successively re-written that much of what we are taught is more about the prevailing powers than it is real history and events as they occurred. |
| For example, there was a city so large and famous in the ancient world that at one time it had a thriving population of over 450,000 and was the center of the world for learning, craft, metalwork, language, philosophy and religion for over 1,200 years. |
| No, this city was not Rome, but a city that was at its zenith more than two and a half thousand years before Rome--its founding kings (patriarchs) being Ab-ra-mu (Abraham), E-sa-um (Esau), Ish-ma-ilu (Ishmael), Is-ra-ilu (Israel), Sa-'u-lum (Saul) and Da-'u'dum (David). No the city was not Jerusalem, by Ebla in northern Syria and the birthplace of Eblaite, the mother tongue that spawned dozens of languages including Aramaic, Arabic and Hebrew. |
| The fact that you have possibly never heard of one of the most famous cities of history-more famous and influential than Rome ever was-is not surprising. Because modern Western history is written to keep such facts hidden, not revealed. It does not benefit the prevailing powers to teach people such facts. This history remains open to be bent to the whim of those in power. |
